This afternoon we went to a local farm market to buy a pumpkin. The kids enjoyed looking at all the pumpkins and had definite opinions on which pumpkin to buy. We ended up with a 43 pounder. I bought a pot of beautiful orange-red mums. It's been a great start to the weekend. We have big plans for the rest of the weekend too--a backyard fire, smores, pumpkin carving, football, knitting.
We visited my family over the Memorial Day weekend. The kids are always so excited to go to Grandma's house.
On Saturday, we had a family reunion with my maternal grandmother's side of the family. It was HOT so we did what normal people do. Give the kids squirt guns.
Juliana declared them to be "so squirty."
The reunion was at the Beech Fork State Park in Wayne County, West Virginia. After we ate, we went down to the marina to let the kids feed the fish.
Don't see any fish?
How about now? These fish were MONSTER FISH.
Liam liked the fish too, but the poor guy just doesn't deal with heat very well. We packed up the car and headed back to mom's house.
On Sunday, we had a family dinner and let the kids run around in the back yard with a sprinkler.
I was inside most of the time finishing up the knitting on Strawberry Moon. I blocked it on Sunday evening, and my sister and I did the photoshoot on Monday morning before my family and I headed back to Cincinnati. The pattern is headed to the tech editor later today and will be ready for you next week. I'm currently without anything on the needles. I need to remedy that. Soon.
Last week our entire family (me, husband, kids, my mom, my two sisters, their husbands, and their kids) took a family vacation. We went to Holden Beach, North Carolina, and had a wonderful time.
I have over 200 photos to sort through, but here are a couple that are ready to share.
Let me tell you, over twenty hours in the car meant a lot of knitting time. I have an almost completed Cedar Leaf Shawlette, and my first sock design is well underway (after lots and lots of ripping). Stay tuned for more beach and lots of knitting.
That's where we're headed this afternoon...the most southern point of Ohio aka South Point aka my hometown.
This weekend is my 15 year high school reunion. This could be lots of fun or not so much. I planned this shebang, and there was much drama surrounding it last week. So much drama that I was this close to canceling it. I may have uttered the words "c*#t ass bitch twats" regarding the whole thing (and I never use that c-word except in extreme anger so you can guess how I was feeling). I could have a fabulous time like I did at the 10 year or I could end up crying. It's a crapshoot.
Here is a rather boring video of a typical dinner at our house. In this video you will hear Liam get yelled at for spitting, see Liam spit his food, and see Juliana do some big new things especially at the end. Just a word of warning: I had to turn up the volume on the computer way up to hear the sound because this was shot with the crappy recorder on my digital camera.
